The Abe's administration is set to adopt the draft plan of the basic energy policy on Tuesday, which means Japan will continue to rely on nuclear power to generate electricity.
The draft plan says that nuclear power generation is an "important base load electricity source". It means the nuclear power will not be the main electricity source, but the government plans to retain nuclear power as a routine and stable electricity generation method.
The plan will pave the way for the restart of idle nuclear reactors as early as this summer, when electricity demand is at its peak.
