云南曲靖煤矿透水 排水抢救尚在进行中
In Southwest China, rescuers are racing to pump water from a flooded coal pit, as 22 miners remain trapped.
Nine rescue teams with more than 500 emergency workers are at the mine site in Qujing City. Four pumps are running non-stop and the water level underground is dropping. As of Tuesday, contact had still not been made with the trapped miners.
A state Council working group has arrived at the site to direct the rescue effort. More than 400 relatives of the miners have also arrived at the site. local Authorities have formed working groups to aid and comfort them.
The accident occurred at 5 A.M. Beijing time on Monday when 26 miners were working underground. only four managed to make it out safely. The depth of the mine and the amount of flood water is making the rescue work challenging.
